What Is a BA15D Elevator Lamp?

BA15D is a bayonet-mount lamp base with a 15mm diameter and two contact pins (double contact) on the base. It is the standard base used in elevator floor indicator panels and button illumination in most commercial elevator systems. The lamps run on 12V DC or AC supplied by the elevator controller — not a standard 120V circuit — so only a direct BA15D 12V replacement will fit.

ALR18 vs. Standard Bulb Shape

The ALR18 (also written A-LR18) is a small, rounded lamp shape sized to fit the compact indicator sockets found in elevator panels. Standard A19 or other household bulb shapes are not compatible with these sockets.
